Woodward Park, Clovis CA -The WCHS Royals Boys Cross Country team returned to the podium after an eight-year absence this past weekend with a 3rd place finish in the CIF Division 5 California Cross Country Championships out of 25 teams.

With a race time temperature of 65 degrees, the Royals, thundered out of the gates and streaked across the grass toward the 3.1 mile finish line. Coming off a disappointing 4th place finish in the CIF Southern Section Championships, WCHS sought redemption at Woodward Park and earned it.

Anchored by a team of seasoned runners, Riley Batista (SR) was the first Royal across the finish line with a time of 16:52.4 and a 29th spot out of a field of over 200 runners. Followed by Braulio Alvarez (JR), Steven Martinez(JR), James Chebahtah (JR), Mackenzie Thomas (SR), Josh Thomas (JR), and Micah Stolfus (SR).
