Hi, my name is Jamie Firetag and I teach 7th grade Bible and History/Geography. When I was in 8th grade, I remember my history teacher making history come alive for us! He showed me how understanding history really does help us to understand ourselves. I majored in History and English and now I love sharing my passion with my students. I taught five years in public schools, two years in high school, and three years in middle school.
I’ve been married to my sweetheart, Nick, for 17 years, and we have 3 kids. We live here in Riverside and have two dogs, one cat, and five chickens. We love our little zoo! We also love to hike, travel, explore new environments, and try new experiences. We are trying to hike as many National Parks as we can—last year alone we traveled to four different parks!
Where is the most interesting place I’ve traveled? Gosh! That’s a hard one! The WORLD is interesting and every country tells a different part of the greater story. I love the architecture of Barcelona, the food in Paris, the lemon blossom scent of Capri, the stars in Death Valley, the sunsets in Maui, the music of Jamaica, the beauty of Yosemite…
What I’m most looking forward to this year is being back in the classroom with students! The students are what make teaching such a joy. I love their stories, giggles, determination, honesty, and silliness. I already feel blessed to be with this year’s 7th graders and I am SO excited to watch them grow in the Lord this year!
Oh and by the way, I’m a Greenbay Packers fan, baby! Pack Attack!!
